The Cosimo Matassa Project are a London-based collective of musicians united by a passion for 50s rhythm 'n' blues, and a love for the artists who passed through Cosimo Matassa’s studios. Come and say hi to the band at their regular monthly session at Nightjar in London (the fourth Friday of each month). The Cosimo Matassa Project are releasing their debut EP 'Sahara' on the 13th of June 2025.
Dai Price is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Newport in South Wales. He plays double bass and sings with The Cosimo Matassa Project. Dai cut his teeth touring with acts such as Los Chinches and Dai & The Ramblers.
Yorkshireman Damian Hand plays tenor saxophone. Damian plays with his own band, Akasha, and over the years has found work with artists as varied as Jerry Dammers, Van Morrison, Allen Toussaint and Maxi Jazz.
Dave Priseman plays trumpet with The Cosimo Matassa Project. Dave has played with numerous stars in the worlds of pop, blues and jazz, including Imelda May, Ray Gelato, Jeff Beck, John Mclaughlin, Trombone Shorty, and Jools Holland.
Al 'Dente' Dunn plays piano with The Cosimo Matassa Project (and sometimes a bit of percussion). MD Al also plays the accordion, and has toured with The Boomtown Rats, Loudon Wainright and Richard Thompson.
Jonathan Lee plays drums, and was the backbone of The James Hunter Six, touring and recording with the Daptone-signed soul band for over twenty years.
